Shakin' it up a bit and R E S P E C T !

As I mentioned before, I walk 4-5 miles a day. This morning, yet again alone, I headed out at 8:30AM for my walk. I got 2 miles around and thought I'd change it up a bit and take the last 3 (maybe if I'm up for it - 6) laps on my Kylee's bike. Geoff had taken the kids to school in the "new" truck and so I could use her cruiser. I headed out for the first lap and realized how old I am!! My goodness! I got one lap in and hurt so bad that I quit for the day. I felt muscles in my legs I haven't felt forever and don't want to feel them again for a long time! I now have the utmost respect for my kids who would ride their bikes to and from school and ride the neighbor numerous times after school. I used to think that bike riding was "relaxing" and "enjoyable" but after this morning - I'M JUST OLD!

okay, your post made me die laughing and have a serious case of disturbing flashbacks. I used to be a HUGE biker, and I was always pulling a trailer with 100 lbs of boys in it. a couple of months ago, I pulled out the ol' bike, loaded the 40 lb three year old in it, and headed off for my "normal (2 years ago) bike ride". I got three houses away and thought I was DYING! I refused to give up, turned the corner, and got about a half mile away. I waited at the corner praying inside my head for someone in my neighborhood to drive by so I could ditch my bike and trailer, and get a wussy ride home. NO LUCK!! I turned around, peddled very slowly and pitifully back home, and have not touched my bike since then. The call to the husband when I got home was supposed to be one of "spousal pity", but turned into the "ward comedy skit" for the next few months.........all thanks to me and my dumb bike!! Thanks for the fun memories! I needed a good laugh tonight Ü

Sorry to be laughing at your pain, but this was too funny! Are your muscles sore today? I hope not- the day after is painful! I do feel bad reading this. I really need to get back to exercising now that I'm feeling better. I don't know about 4-5 miles, but walking sounds great. Keep it up!

Oh my! I always just figured it's just as easy now as it was back then. After all, there's that saying..."It's just like riding a bike...you never forget"....isn't that supposed to mean that it's always just the same?! I'm guessing the bikes at the gym are nothing compared to riding an actual bike. We were considering buying us some bikes not too long ago, this makes me want to rethink that whole idea!

Uh, yeah...when we do our "mile" bike ride with the scouts I always DIE! Don't know how I ever rode a bike?!

How fun to have a new car!!! How do you find time to do these shows. That amazes me!! Good job on the walking. I think you are brave to have tried the bike and I bet one walk around the block for me would remind me of miscles that seem to have been rendered useless. Dang I got to step it up!

Thanks for the update - I was wonderin' what had happened to ya! Wish I could walk w/ ya. Last yr I went everyday with my 2 girls in the dbl jogger. Got some lunges in there too! I should get one of those baby backpacks and lug all three of my kids w/ me. That would be quite the sight. I guess thats what the childcare at the gym is for. Way to keep it up - you looked great on Sunday!!
Congrats on the Tahoe - I bet you love it!

best of luck with all your auditions!! I think that is so awesome that you're stretching yourself...on the "stretching note" I too have found that bike riding is extremely painful when you're doing it for the first time in years! I actually said the same thing, "wow, I hurt in the strangest places !"
keep it up!

I hear you girl! But I don't think you're old. In fact, 4 to 5 miles a day is amazing!
